Grid --

My family's grid -- a standalone composed of two regions -- was put up by my 14-year-old daughter. She did it without spending 40-50 hours a week filtering out bugs, or joining developers for several months.

The hard part was getting the router configured, and that took a little help from the IRC channel for OSGrid -- I'm really thankful to all those guys. Without that nasty router configuration issue, it would have taken less than an hour.

The two regions have been running nicely for several months now, and the kids play on them, and their dad -- who's in Shanghai -- can join them in-world to see what they've built.

The regions are hypergrid-enabled, so anyone can teleport in.

I'm very grateful to the developers who DID spend countless hours on making OpenSim this easy to use. I'm not saying its for everyone -- my daughter's a Linux nut and has no problems with command-line interfaces. Me, I like to point-and-click, so for work, our regions and standalones are hosted by professionals.

If anyone wants to hire my daughter, just drop me a line. She charges $8 an hour.

Yes setting up a grid is as easy as it could be, it's even more easy than to install a wordpress blog from Cpanel. That is why Microsoft has a dedicated staff to keep their grid online. You don't really have much of a clue what it does mean to run a grid, perhaps you should join the developers for several months and participate to filter out bugs for 40 or 50 hours in a week. Then you would have a clue how easy it is to run an Opensim grid.

You are like Prokofy, that one also knows the answer to everything. You call yourself a notable reporter with years of experience, before you make all these claims perhaps you should do some more investigating on the topic.
