One of the biggest benefits of being with Reaction Grid is not in the capabilities (and it does run very well - we have a 4 sim grid with Kyle).

The largest plus is the team. Kyle, Robin, and Chris are passionate, caring, and genuine people who also happen to be very talented.

Reaction Grid is truly focused on the success of their customer. I have a feeling that they actually believe that if you treat your customers like they, and their goals, are important then you will find success.

I anticipate a very long relationship with mutual respect with the Reaction Grid Team.

No problem Neb the same excitement that caused me to spill the beans on Intel's work in a very public venue has infected many users of OpenSim who heard me and are looking for even more ammunition to bolster the case for using it. I get to rambling on and think perhaps some cliff notes will keep me on track next time ;)

I think the best course of action is letting Intel decide where and when to introduce these private tests & focus more on what ReactionGrid is hands on achieving so the message is in the hands of those doing the amazing work.

On the upside we have had more RFQ's based around what OpenSim can do today & we are looking to work with the OpenSim community to help us which is what my goal in speaking in public was hoping to achieve for us and others interested in building OpenSim up as a tool for getting things done.

Critique is always welcome at ReactionGrid feel free to question any comments I will thoughtfully review them and do my best to correct or clarify. http://opensimulator.org its free!

At the event I actually do state this was in a very controlled environment & that when released even if a fraction of that number occurs it will be huge. My intent was to simply brag about how developers big and small contribute.

I stressed many times the bulk of the work in OpenSim done by small independent volunteers. But to not mention the larger contributors is also a disservice in my opinion. We must break the stigma that OpenSim isn't of interest to serious users to attract more develop business.

Keeping OpenSim in the dark needs to change as it is workable and inclusive to all. This will also create more jobs for the developer communities & early adopters struggling to succeed.

Taken out of the context of the actual discussion and put in an exclamatory way in a title does infer a sense of immediate availability which is something I feel I stressed was not the case inworld.

I will temper my talks concerning test environments in public discussion in order to avoid any further confusion over such items. My goal is a positive message that is easy to understand about how great OpenSim is.

Also the price is $275 for Hyper-V BanBury not $250.

In addition Unity viewer for OpenSim is an experiment which we asked IBM, who had tested the waters here publicly, about how this could be furthered. We claim no credit to any work on making this happen. I hope that credit had come across properly in the actual discussion to Rob Smart of IBM in particular.

Finally if there is any question of our 65 concurrency number http://www.flickr.com/photos/reactiongrid/sets/72... it was a public test and we will do more and expect to hit upwards of 100 on the same gear with current used code.

Hopefully this clarifies things a little I apologize for any confusion over timelines or the scenarios involved for the 1000 avatar test.

Despite of the fact it is automated avatars, 1000 is an impressive result and I bet that a "human avatars count" is probably not that far.

From my observations, participation in many of the testing and developments described above, and research, this article and Kyle's information sounds spot on and accurate.

Seems like every day there's steady measurable progress towards major advancements in Open Simulator technology (hats off to the core OS developers). However, even if no more progress were made, it still stands as a powerful substitute to Second Life for specific use cases (education, training, secure private prototyping & development, distance collaboration).
