Ann --

Actually, US 12-year-olds are allowed to legally hold a variety of jobs. They can deliver newspapers, babysit and do household chores, act in TV shows and commercials, work on a farm, work in a family-owned business, and more. In addition, a 12-year-old can start his own company -- the U.S. is pretty much the best place in the world to start a company. For example, my 14-year-old daughter owns and runs a Web development company focusing on Wordpress, but has occasionally been known to go out and do an OpenSim install as well.

You must not live in the USA if you are employing 12 year old children.

You might take a look at my crystal ball gazing towards the end of my recent blogpost http://stindberg.blogspot.com/2010/01/many-facoes-of-peter-stindberg-across.html here. I think content creators are missing out on opportunities in other opensim grids, and already now there might be viable ways for them to conduct business.
