Well this is too bad. I thought Nicole's team did a great job with few resources from the little I have seen of Wonderland.

I have no doubt that the OpenSim developer community is comprised of excellent people, but Project Wonderland also has a wonderful community of developers! Many are committed to keeping the project alive and moving forward.

> Wonderland was under the fairly restrictive GPL license, which is fairly anti-commercial,

Just to clarify, Wonderland is licensed under a "GPL v2 with class path exception" license. This is extremely favorable to commercial use of the platform. Almost any functionality can be added to Wonderland through modules, akin to plugins in other environments. Both commercial and non-commercial contributors may publicize modules in the Wonderland Module Warehouse:
 <a href="http://www.projectwonderland.com/index.php?option=com_docman&cat=add_ons&Itemid=123" rel="nofollow">http://www.projectwonderland.com/index.php?option...</a>

The class path exception permits people to license modules under any license they wish, either commercial or open source. The only restriction is that core changes, which are rarely necessary, must be made available to the open source community.

The OpenSim community has thrived without a central corporate sponsor and we believe the Wonderland community will be able to do so as well. There's so much left to do and to learn in the virtual world space, that allowing multiple flowers to bloom will drive the technology forward in new and interesting ways. We welcome you to join the Wonderland community . We also welcome collaboration and cooperation with OpenSim developers, some of whom kindly reached out a hand of friendship to us already.
