While working at IBM our team (folks like Peter Finn, Karen Keeter, Craig Becker, Ian Hughes and the like--early adopters) created a Guidelines document that was a supplement to the Corporate Guidelines. It addressed many(not all) of the compliance issues that were not previously covered in other guidelines, like IBM's Business Conduct Guidelines. It's a public document that is available to anyone with interest. I'm certain one of the IBMers could make the link available as I no longer see it on the corporate website. It's a good piece of work with alot of thought for the various types of virtual environments and potential issues with prevention of issues at the core of the guidance.

very thorough and apropos for today. especially in the often sue happy US

this speaks to the need for companies to mentor one another and learn the culture and etiquette of virtual worlds (something subQuark is developing in reaction grid)

understanding things like virtual rape (yes, i had one of my tenants get very upset because she never logged out, put her avatar to bed in a sex bed, and then would read the logs the next day and saw that she had been "raped")

behavior is as with any other endeavor. when i was a firefighter and also as a school teacher, you are always an ambassador for those things, even in your off hours

so even as an avatar, be human, be decent, be ethical, and treat others with respect

i may only be known as my avatar name, but my avatar still has a reputation and an image to uphold
