It is wonderful to read how schools can use Opensim and I’m sure it will only get bigger. It is real value for money. I think the kids of today will really benefit from experiencing virtual worlds for they open up the imagination which is so vital to learning. I remember my school days and I will admit to being a stronger learner where a subject interested me. Even my spelling and gamma improved when I read history. When I took an interest in Cosmology my mathematics improved. Opensim has a lot to offer education. It really is a fantastic playground and we all know kids learn so much through play.
I am so proud of these guys! Just when it seems half of Georgia would shoot the stump in their back-yard because it was one of those gosh darn intellectuals, I see innovative stuff like this going on. Yay for letting the light in! It rocks!
Just checking by to express how much I appreciate your writing, Maria. By that I do not only mean the subjects, but also the style. I’ve become a ::gasp:: fan.Â
Amazing work at this district. I am in higher ed getting teachers ready for K12 and this is most inspiring. Thank you for the article – this will be a must-read for my graduate students.
