Man, this is going to screw kids right up.

If I think of my 13 year old self with access to that. I would have died from dehydration within a week.

….sorry if thats too much info. lol.

Going to be honest. The article title took me by surprise. Never thought I see that here. But still it’s VR and it’s a good point. Usually a media the Porn industry supports survives. It happened with VHS over Betamax, DVD over VCD and Blu-Ray over HD-DVD, so why not VR.

Another reason to pay attention to this particular industry niche is because a new medium is being invented — virtual reality story telling. And while most filmmakers take a long time to shoot a single film, the porn industry has to churn out new content constantly — and they get instant feedback on what’s working and what isn’t, based on whether people pay for it, whether they get a subscription afterwards, and how they rate it. (One thing I learned from doing this — these videos get ratings from users!)

That means that the learning cycle is extremely fast. Not only are these guys experimenting with new hardware, new angles, new equipment, but also having to figure out how to deliver a compelling experience.

And here’s another example of the porn industry pushing tech forward, a hybrid approach to VR video that involves the viewer making choices along the way — a “choose your own adventure” kind of thing, except in VR, and X-rated:

Again, I’m not endorsing porn here, but pointing out the the experimentation that’s currently going on there.

Porn wins always. Rule No. 34 on internet.
VR is a very young tech, I mean is not the 1/16 that will be.
The big laser discs (I remember Jaws the movie AMAZING at that time) were a big effort that never grown as expected, but it is the greatest succesor to all the optical storage medium that today we have, to conclude this VR technology is the seed and added to videos or movies or porn, will be the new future except if is dropped-dead on certain cold hands.
    “Uooohhhh turn down for what!”
