Altadyn’s Darius Lahoutifard wins AVW’s Person of the Year

Press Release: Darius Lahoutifard, Reggie Smith III & Dr. Keysha Gamor top three in Virtual Awards 2011

Jacksonville, FL — The Association of Virtual Worlds announced the winners of its Virtual Excellence Awards 2011 today and Altadyn CEO Darius Lahoutifard was named Person of the Year.  He was nominated in the Enterprise category.

Altadyn is the company behind 3DXplorer, a Web-based virtual world platform used for enterprise collaboration.

Altadyn customers include Dell Inc., Cap Gemini, US Air Force, National Defense University, Aptima Inc., Old Dominion University and more. Altadyn is based in Irvine, California and has offices in Paris, France.

“Darius is fantastic to work with,” said John Feeney, a cognitive scientist at Aptima who specializes in the development and delivery of computer based automated training and assessment systems. Aptima is an engineering research firm working in the defense sector.

“Across many projects we’ve used their exceptional technology,” Feeney added in his endorsement.”Their products were only surpassed by collaborative energies.”

Runners up were Reggie Smith III, Chairman, Board of Directors, United States Distance Learning Association, who was nominated in the Learning category, and Dr. Keysha Gamor, a Virtual World/Virtual Reality subject matter expert, who was nominated in the Virtual Worlds category.

“Congratulations to all the Association of Virtual Worlds Excellence and Achievement Award winners,” said AVW founder Edita Kaye.

Each of these three nominees received over 1,100 votes each, she said.

There were a total of 50 nominees this year and thousands of ballots cast, said Kaye.

The Association also released the list of winners for each individual category.
