Nursing group expands 3D training

Press Release: ANCC Expands Virtual Poster Hall in 2011

Using the Digitell, 3D, Immersive Platform, ANCC Doubles the Number of Poster Sessions From Last Year

Jamestown, NY– The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) has contracted with Digitell for a second year to expand their 3D, Virtual Poster Session Hall.

The ANCC Environment contains over 60 Poster Sessions, complete with an audio clip from the presenter as well as a pdf download of the Poster. Nurses can enter the environment as an avatar, which they can customize to look like themselves. Then proceed to navigate around to the Posters, spending as much time as they would like. A directory of Posters makes it easy to find your way around. During “Live” Events, avatars can interact and communicate with each other and with the Poster Presenters for a feeling of actually attending a live event without ever leaving your house.

“This was so well received last year by our nurses that we are excited to have expand it in 2011,” says Regina Coll, Assistant Director, Technology & Conferences for ANCC. She adds, “Not only have we expanded the Posters but we have added new features that we are excited about as well.”

Those new features include a Magnet Virtual Film Festival, a Magnet Art Gallery, an ANCC Resources Section and a Virtual room Honoring the Past and our Nursing History. Nurses will continue to have access to both the 2010 and the 2011 Posters.

“Your Virtual Development Team has been awesome to work with and we couldn’t have done this without the patience and creativity of the Digitell staff,” says Coll. “I am looking forward to continuing to develop new 3D applications for our nurses,” adds Coll.

The ANCC Virtual Poster Session was available before the conference, during the conference and will continue to be open after the conference, allowing nurses an opportunity to browse all the Posters at their own leisure. So far over 1,400 nurses have signed up for the Virtual Poster Hall with more expected as a follow-up to the event. Registration in 2011 was up 180% over 2010.

“We are very excited to be working with ANCC,” says James Newman, Digitell’s Director of Virtual Technology. “Regina and her team have embraced this technology from the start and have really accomplished some great things,” adds Newman.
