YouTube gets 360 degree upgrade

Google released an update for its YouTube app this week with support for both standard and immersive 360 degree video.

The update is currently only available for Android devices, but an iOS version is expected soon.

Users without virtual reality headsets will be able to turn their phones or tablets while watching the 360 degree videos to see different angles.

The Google Cardboard headset was also updated recently.

Those with Google Cardboard and similar headsets will be able to switch to a side-by-side mode and be completely immersed in the videos.
