Raytheon offers free Cardboard viewer, app

A new Raytheon-built virtual reality appÂ puts users on a New England hilltop, looking out onto the test range for the company’s new 360-degreeÂ Global Patriot SolutionsÂ radar. The app, available for bothÂ Android devices, andÂ iOS devices,Â works with anyÂ Google Cardboard-compatible headset.

Raytheon itself is giving away free Google Cardboard viewers, previously used the technology to show the assembly of the first full-sized version of the array. The company is proposing the new radar as an upgrade to the system that has protected the United States and its allies for decades.

The app itself is just a 360-degree view of the area, with a radar grid superimposed over it. Other than being able to look around, there is no interactivity in the app, nor anything particularly interesting to see.
