China-based OnePlus, known for their OnePlus One smartphone, is launching their OnePlus 2 smartphone next month in virtual reality.

“You’re going to want to experience it, and to help you out, we are releasing our very own Cardboard,” the company said in an announcement. “It’s based on Cardboard 2.0, but with some notable improvements.”
The company plans to distribute Google Cardboard headsets for free — only charging for shipping — to allow more people to see the event. It’s a slightly upgraded Google Cardboard set, but it’s still made of cardboard.
According to the company, their Cardboard is thinner, made of stronger cardboard, and is coated to repel oils and stains. It is designed to fit the OnePlus One smartphone, or any other phone with a screen size of up to 6 inches.
The launch event will be held on July 27, at 7 p.m. Pacific time.
“A VR launch lets you stand right next to our team and our fans as we unveil our new flagship,” the company said. “You’ll be able to look around as you check out the phone in a new way and maybe even find a few hidden Easter eggs.”
