AMD: Mobile will dominate VR headsets next three years

According to Roy Taylor, corporate vice president of Alliances for AMD,  there will be 30 million virtual reality headsets in use in North America and Europe by 2018.

He was citing figures that resulted from the inaugural meeting of the VR Council, an industry group with 70 members.

Half of all those headsets, or 15 million, will be running on mobile devices. Another 10 million will be console-based, like Sony’s Project Morpheus. And 5 million will be PC peripherals like the Oculus Rift.

He gave the keynote address at the VRLA Summer Expo a week ago.
