Chinese phone maker OnePlus offered everyone a free Google Cardboard headset — you just pay for shipping — so that people could watch its smartphone launch virtually on July 27.
The company sent out 30,000 sets, and ran out in about a day.
According to the company, their Cardboard is thinner, made of stronger cardboard, and is coated to repel oils and stains. It is designed to fit the OnePlus One smartphone, or any other phone with a screen size of up to 6 inches.
There are plenty of other places to get Google Cardboards — just be sure you’re getting the latest Google Cardboard 2.0 headset, with a button on the top, instead of a magnet on the side.
The lowest priced is this $7.68 generic Google Cardboard 2.0 case on Amazon.
